Dear Friends,
Much of my work in the last two years has been to focus on two issues of great importance to Westchester school aid funding and reducing the overwhelming burden of property taxes in New York State. As Ranking Democrat on the Senate Education Committee, a member of the Joint Budget Conference Committee on Education, and as a sponsor and advocate for alternatives to New York’s overreliance on the property tax I am pleased that issues I have made a priority are now center stage before the Legislature.
I continue my strong advocacy on environmental issues, the needs of children, families, and senior citizens, and as an advocate for open government.
With the expectation that the Senate Democrats are likely to win control of the Senate this November we stand at the horizon of bringing real reform to the dysfunctional New York State Senate. Issues I have long-championed such as fiscal reform, a more open legislative and state budget process, campaign finance reform and nonpartisan redistricting will stand a much better chance with new leadership in the State Senate.
With that change I will become Chair of the Senate Education Committee, the first Westchester legislator to Chair the Education committee in either house in memory.
I continue to be most interested in your needs and concerns and hope you will contact me with any suggestions or questions you may have. It remains a privilege and honor to work for you in the State Senate.
Warm regards,

Suzi Oppenheimer

Dear Friends,
Thank you for your support and your votes. If you didn't vote for me, I hope to prove to you that I deserve your support.
As I stressed during the campaign, this election was especially important for New York as well as the nation. For the first time in decades, control of the Senate will be in Democratic hands. We Democrats will now have an opportunity and a duty to reform NY State government.
This is the work I've been fighting to achieve since I came to Albany. These times will be challenging. I have already rolled up my sleeves, working to protect what we value in Westchester.
Thanks again,

Senator Suzi Oppenheimer
